26 and Pregnant...

...for one more day. I already got an early birthday present from Jake. This "One Line A Day - Five Year Memory Book" was something that I have wanted. I always think back and wish I had kept a journal - probably because I have the worst memory! This journal devotes one page to each calendar day (ie September 29th), but it for five years. So, I'll only write have a few lines for September 29th this year, but after five years the page will be full. I can't wait to see how our lives will change in five years! I'll have a son in kindergarten! Crazy!

Another early birthday gift was the glider from my parents. I must say, it is very cozy! I can't wait to rock little Parker to sleep. Gasp! Yes, that is the name we've 99% decided on.

Our tiny loft is busting at the seams with baby stuff! Notice the baby play thing under the crib. Behind the photographer (Jake) is our full size bed. We put it on risers so we could store even more stuff under that. This included boxes of beer (Jake), crafts and pictures (Kelly), and more baby things (Parker). Ah! We need a bigger place! Our lease is up February!

24 weeks preg. I promise I am not sticking my belly out! I've been told by strangers that it looks like I'm carrying a boy. And... wait for it... while walking through the mall (with a slight limp because my feet were killing me) I heard: "What's goin on sexy?" and the young man was staring me down. I ran, grasping my Wetzel Pretzel, to find Jake at the hat store. Still got it. Ha ha ha...

Missing My Husband

Jake is out of town for business. He's only gone for a total of 48 hours, but I miss the guy.

Recognize the photo? Well, it's one we didn't use for our "Save the Dates." What's with the face he's making!

Here is a fun questionnaire I found that I've filled out about my main squeeze:

2. how long have you been together? since February 2006
3. dating/engaged/married? married 14 months
4. how old is your man? 29 1/2
5. who eats more? it's close, but he does

27. who has more friends? i don't know. me?
28. who has more siblings? jake
29. who wears the pants in the relationship? jake
30. who spends more money? hmm... jake isn't very frugal... i might say him.

In other news: I'll be 25 weeks on Saturday. I'll try to post more belly pictures this weekend. Baby Hilton is kicking up a storm and Jake is able to feel him almost every night. I went to my 24 week appointment yesterday (first appt. without Jake) and everything was normal. It was a very quick appointment. Not much for doc to say I guess. I got a flu shot and they gave me instructions for a glucose test. I'll be doing that in a week. Sounds gross. My friend, Rachel, had her baby girl yesterday! I'm so happy for her and Ben. But, I'm jealous they get to meet their daughter, Lucy. I'm so anxious to meet our lil' peanut and see what he looks like. I keep telling myself to enjoy this time because I can never go back... but ahhhh! It's hard to wait :)

LA Weekend & 52 Card Pick-Up

Last weekend Jake and I were in LA for a friend's wedding. We stayed with my sister and had a chance to see my parents and brother for Sunday brunch. I made such an effort to pack our camera, but it never made it out of our suitcase. Instead, we snapped this picture with my iPhone while at the wedding. The reception was at a private home that is rented out for weddings or parties. The house looks like a castle... it was a pretty neat wedding.

Here I am posing in my sister's apartment at 23 weeks preggo. I've been feeling good!

Back in San Jose, I woke up one morning to hear Jake reprimanding Roxy outside our bedroom door. He normally wakes up first and hops in the shower. Roxy waits outside the bathroom and bedroom doors - usually chewing on one of her toys. Well, one morning Roxy discovered two decks of playing cards that were sitting on top of Jake's poker chips. These chips and cards have been sitting in the corner of the room for months! What made her want to get into them now? Oh, Roxy!

Exciting Things

There has been a lot going on lately. Funny how my idea of fun and exciting has changed slightly in the past five months... I'm sure it will change even more when Baby H is here.

It was my first full week of school so I was exhausted! The students are great, but I always forget how much talking I do the first few weeks of school - I have to explain everything. Also, being on my feet all day has been tough to get used to. I'm responsible for also walking the students to our field area (about a block away) for recess duty. There was also an earthquake drill which meant more walking to the field. Luckily, it was a planned drill so I had a change of shoes in the classroom. My feet started to swell up that day and they couldn't fit in my shoes by the end of the day.

It's not just my feet -- I'm huge! At least, I feel that way. Jake has been very sweet about my expanding body and he even told me the other night how impressed he was with how I was handling it all. I guess he was expecting the typical neurotic Kelly, but I've been (surprisingly) relaxed about the whole thing. So, here is the embarrassing picture of the week:

22 weeks! Maternity jeans are now a must.

Some exciting updates: We got a crib! I had been looking at different cribs in our budget and then one night I found one of them online for super cheap and included the mattress. I had to jump on it. Pictures to come...

Also, Jake felt Baby Hilton kick! It was very exciting for him. I've been feeling the little guy move for weeks now, but I'm so happy that Jake got to experience it. His reaction was priceless and it definetely helped make it "more real" for him.

We scheduled a "childbirth preparation class" through our doctor's office/hospital. My doctor recommeded this particular class, which is actually a series of three classes. Not sure what to expect from these classes, but we get to take a tour of the hospital... I love a good field trip.

Jake purchased this book from amazon:

Haven't read it yet... but I hate the cover. Ha
